We’ll have a special election weekend edition later today looking back at what has been, in many respects, a highly unusual Áras campaign. 

From the unexpected withdrawal of Mairead McGuinness during the summer to Jim Gavin ending his campaign at the start of this month, few would have predicted a race with so many twists and turns or one that would leave us with only two candidates actively vying for the prize on polling day. 

As the nation votes today we’ll also be looking ahead to the weekend to come, giving a sneak peak at some of our team’s coverage and, most importantly, trying to predict when we might actually get an official result.
