GARDAÍ HAVE APPEALED for help from the public to identify a man who was attacked near Temple Bar in Dublin in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The man, whose age is unknown, is being treated at Beaumont Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

The man sustained a number of injuries to his head and face during the attack. As a result, gardaí have so far been unable to confirm the victim’s identity.

In a statement this afternoon, gardaí issued details of a tattoo on the man’s forearm that they hope will help identify him.

The tattoo is described as a blue and white flag with the words ‘Ceol is Beatha’, meaning ‘music and life’, a garda spokesperson said.

It’s believed the man was injured following an alleged assault that occurred at Cope Street in Dublin at approximately 12.30am yesterday.

It is understood that up to two men carried out the alleged assault, during which the victim was struck with an e-scooter.

“Anyone who was in the area of Cope Street between midnight and 1:00am, and who may have any information about the incident is asked to contact investigating Gardaí,” a garda spokesperson said.

Anyone with camera footage, including mobile phone and dash-cam footage, is asked to make it available.
