Trinity College in 2D: 12 Irish landmarks brilliantly re-created with paper
Jessica Rooney Deane has paper-ified Croke Park, Clare pubs and more.
TAKE A TWO dimensional tour of Ireland’s favourite coffee shops and clothing stores with a few scrolls through the vibrant Paper Ireland Instagram account.
The project was started by Dublin-based graphic designer and paper artist, Jessica Rooney Deane.
I created a trendy map of Dublin as one of my final projects in DIT, all the buildings included were just simple line drawings. After I graduated, I thought it would be cool to try and mix those illustrations with paper. It all just took off from there.
The project has also sparked several business opportunities.
“Everyone has loved seeing their businesses as paper pieces, some have even commissioned the artwork, afterwards.”
Indeed, if you’ve visited Grantham’s coffee shop in Dublin lately, you might have spotted Deane’s design on the coffee cups there.
“Every time I see a cool building, I immediately figure out how I’d make it and what paper I would need,” says the artist.
“I also take loads of photos whenever I’m away or down the country; there’s always cute little buildings or something really unusual that would be cool to add to the series.”
