Here’s how transport services will be disrupted across the country this Easter weekend

Revised timetables are in place nationwide from today through to Monday.

RAIL PASSENGERS ARE being warned of widespread disruption to services across the country over the Easter weekend, with major works set to impact DART, commuter and intercity routes.

Iarnród Éireann has confirmed that a revised timetable will be in operation from today through to Easter Monday (6 April), with customers urged to check schedules in advance and book ahead where possible.

The most significant disruption in Dublin will take place between Connolly and Dún Laoghaire, where DART services will be suspended from Saturday to Monday to allow for overhead line, platform and wall renewal works.

Services will continue to run on either side of the closure, between Howth/Malahide and Connolly, and between Dún Laoghaire and Greystones, while passengers can use Leap cards on other public transport services in the area.

The works will also affect Dublin to Rosslare Europort services, with bus transfers operating between Connolly and Bray.

Meanwhile, the luas red Line services will be partially suspended between Red Cow and Tallaght / Saggart on Saturday 4, Sunday 5, and Bank Holiday Monday 6 April.

Trams will operate between The Point / Connolly and Red Cow only, with replacement bus services running approximately every 15 minutes in the affected areas.

On Easter Sunday, there will be a temporary closure on the Green Line between Dominick and St. Stephen’s Green from 07:00 until approximately 16:15.

During this time, services will operate between Broombridge and Dominick, and between St. Stephen’s Green and Brides Glen.

Full Green Line services will resume from approximately 16:15.

On Good Friday – today – Saturday operating hours will operate on both lines. On the Bank Holiday Monday (6 April) there will be Sunday operating hours, with Red Line restrictions remaining in place, and then on Tuesday (7 April) there will be a return to normal weekday services.

Elsewhere, a number of intercity routes will be impacted by engineering works, including on the Dublin Heuston to Galway line, where bus replacements will operate for the full journey over the weekend.

Services to Westport will involve transfers between Heuston and Athlone, while Limerick to Galway trains will be replaced by buses between Athenry and Galway.

In Cork, commuter rail services to Cobh, Midleton and Mallow will be replaced by buses on Saturday and Easter Sunday due to ongoing signalling and track works. Cork to Dublin and Cork to Tralee services will also involve transfers between Cork and Mallow.

Additional disruption is expected on the Limerick to Limerick Junction line on Saturday afternoon, with bus transfers in place from early afternoon.

Across the network, revised timetables will be in place throughout the weekend, with a Saturday schedule operating today for many services, and a Sunday-level service in place on Easter Monday across DART and commuter routes.

Iarnród Éireann said the works are part of ongoing upgrades to improve capacity and reliability.

More information on impacted services can be found on the Irish Rail site.
