Four due in court over Dublin jewellery shop robbery

Four men armed with hammers robbed a jewellery store in Balbriggan last Friday.

FOUR MEN ARE due to appear in court tomorrow charged in connection with the robbery of a Dublin jewellery store last Friday.

Four men wearing balaclavas and armed with hammers entered the shop in Balbriggan in north county Dublin at around 5pm last Friday, threatening staff and smashing up the store causing extensive damage before fleeing with a large quantity of jewellery.

The men escaped in black saloon car. A short time later gardaí stopped a taxi on the nearby M1 motorway and recovered a large amount of jewellery and all five occupants of the taxi were arrested at the scene.

Today gardaí said four men, aged in their 20s, are expected to appear before Dublin District Court in Blanchardstown tomorrow morning.

A fifth man, aged in his 40s, has been released without charge.
