Katja Mia currently hosts the 6 O'clock Show with Brian Dowling. RTÉ

Virgin Media's Six O'Clock Show host Katja Mia is joining 2FM

She’ll step in for Bláthnaid Treacy for six months from this weekend.

VIRGIN MEDIA TELEVISION presenter Katja Mia is set to present a new show on 2FM from this weekend.

The Six O’Clock Show host will present on the station’s 9am to 12pm slot every weekend for the next six months, when she will cover for Bláthnaid Treacy’s maternity leave.

Mia currently presents on Virgin alongside Brian Dowling, and also featured in the 2023 season of RTÉ’s Dancing with the Stars, where she made it to the quarter-final.

RTÉ, which also recently announced a shake-up of its presenters on Radio 1, confirmed the news this morning.

Speaking about the announcement, Katja said she was “absolutely buzzing” to be joining the 2FM team and “honoured” to be asked to step in for Treacy.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to work on radio and this opportunity has come at a perfect time in my career where I feel I’ve built up a great amount of presenting experience through TV,” she said.

“I’m aware that I have massive boots to fill and that any new role comes with some learning curves, but I can assure 2FM listeners that we’ll have an absolute blast along the way,” Mia added.

2FM Head Dan Healy praised the broadcaster’s latest addition, describing Mia as “one of the new seriously talented Irish stars.”

“Saturday and Sunday mornings are hugely important to 2FM and I’m certain that Katja will bring her own unique style and energy to the show which will maintain the standards that Bláthnaid has created with the 2FM team in that slot,” Healy added.
