THE CHIEF SUSPECT in the murder of a Brazilian woman in Limerick has been found dead in Cork. 

The man, who is understood to also be from Brazil, was believed to have been previously in a relationship with Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa.

Gardaí believe Jady was killed by the man in a domestic violence incident at an apartment at Carlton House, Cecil Street in Limerick at around 7am on Friday. 

Separately gardaí in Cork are investigating the discovery of the suspect’s body in a suburb of Cork city on Saturday. They believe that he died by suicide.

Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, who was in her 30s, was found by gardaí after one of her friends alerted them.

Gardaí had said they were following a definite line of enquiry and were understood to have been looking to question the man in connection with the killing.

A post-mortem performed by the State Pathologist confirmed that Rosa died a violent death.

The apartment remained sealed off this weekend as forensic examinations were carried out at the scene.

Jady had worked at a local shop in Limerick and when she did not turn up for work her colleagues contacted them. She was originally from Sorocaba, a city in the state of São Paulo.

A friend posted a picture online of them together and said: “Eternal memories of you, my dear. Only God knows how much you helped me and how contagious your joy was. May the Lord Jesus receive you in his arms eternally.”

“We had many happy moments but today, you went to live with Jesus. Eternal memories. I will never forget your kindness,” she added.

In a statement on its Facebook page, the National Women’s Council of Ireland paid tribute to Jady.

“Struggling to find the words, yet again, to let you know that another woman has been killed this year.

“Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa was from Brazil and lived in Limerick. Our hearts are today with her, and with her loved ones, for whom her loss will be immeasurable. Every woman deserves to live free from violence and abuse,” the group said.

A garda statement confirmed that the man, defined as a “person of interest and a line of enquiry” was found dead. 

“A male (aged in his 30s) who was a person of interest and a line of enquiry in this investigation, has been found deceased.

“An Garda Síochána continue to investigate the murder of the woman to determine all of the circumstances of her death. A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation. An incident room has been established at Henry Street Garda Station.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Henry Street Garda Station on (061) 212400,” the statement said.
