Five young girls knocked down outside their school in Liverpool

The driver was an elderly woman who is now being treated at the scene.

FIVE CHILDREN AGED between 11 and 13 were injured this afternoon in a road collision outside their school in Liverpool.

Police confirmed that a yellow Peugeot collided with the five girls on Belvedere Road near Princes Park in the south of the city.

They said a number of the girls have serious injuries.

“Others have minor injuries,” a statement said. “Their parents have been informed.”

The driver of the vehicle – a woman in her 80s – is also being treated at the scene.

The incident occurred at about 3.20pm today. It is understood the car mounted the path at around school closing time as the girls were getting on a bus.

Belvedere Academy – an all-girls school – posted an update on its website, stating:

Road traffic incident: Unfortunately there has been a road traffic accident outside the academy. School bus service will be significantly delayed. Please make arrangements to collect your daughter as soon as possible. Further information will follow
