2. Gardaí in Galway are looking for the driver of a blue BMW which was involved in a fatal hit-and-run at Loughrea last night. A cyclist – a man in his 60s – was knocked down and died in hospital just hours later.

Tragically, the incident adds another victim to the gardaí traffic statistics for the year.

3. From next week, people will no longer be able to vape in or around hospitals. The HSE has included e-cigarettes in its tobacco-free policies because it does not have enough information about what is used in the 90 varieties of the product.

4. Tensions in Ukraine show no sign of abating with Russian President Vladimir Putin warning of “consequences” if Kiev uses the army against its own people.
