Whether we’re describing mansions in the hills of Wicklow or seaside cottages in West Cork, we’re on the frontlines when it comes to property info. So this week, we looked back through Dream Home listings from the last year and handpicked a few we most loved writing about.
Without further ado, four luxury listings from Daft.ie that we loved this year…
Sutton, Co Dublin – €2,900,000
Moy Ire is a new build detached home in Sutton, Dublin 13, with five bedrooms and six bathrooms – and we loved its beachfront location. Plus, it’s handy for commuting into Dublin, and modern fixtures that make it a true luxury property.
With over 6400 square feet of space over three floors, you’ll have ample space to spread out. The entrance is striking, with a winding staircase, and reception rooms flank the front door. The kitchen and dining area is at the back of the property, and leads out onto a beach front patio.
Ballina, Co Tipperary – €1,900,000
Garrykennedy House, on the other hand, is a 50-acre estate overlooking Lough Derg in Co Tipperary. It includes a five-bedroom, fully restored and refurbished main house, in addition to a three-bedroom coach house, a historic round tower, a walled orchard, a heated outdoor swimming pool, a tennis court, and a private round tower. There is a covered and heated pool on the property, for sunny days that aren’t quite warm enough for a dip in the lake.
Previous high profile owners intriguingly include Prince Emich Fuerst zu Leimingen, said to be a descendant of the mother of Queen Victoria. His official title was His Serene Highness, which bodes well for the peace and tranquility you might inherit as property owner of Garrykennedy House.
Eyrecourt, Co Galway – €2,650,000
Spanning a massive 8,913 sq ft and sitting on the banks of the River Shannon, Lairakeen House is no ordinary mansion. Located in Eyrecourt, Co Galway, the mansion was built circa 1870 as the centrepiece of a large estate. Some pieces in the seven-bedroom home go back even further than that, like the 16th century mahogany and ebony panelling in the drawing room and library.

Inside, Glencar boasts much of its original Victorian charm, with period details throughout including high ceilings, fireplaces, cornicing and tall sash windows. The open-plan dining and drawing room to the left of the hallway is perfect for entertaining, but it’s the kitchen at garden level that is the heart of the house.
