Man (40s) due in court after bank robbery in Cork

Gardaí yesterday received a report of a robbery at a Bank of Ireland branch at the Douglas Shopping Centre.

A MAN IN his 40s is due to appear before court today after being charged in connection to a bank robbery in Cork.

At around 2pm yesterday, Gardaí received a report of a robbery that took place at a Bank of Ireland branch at the Douglas Shopping Centre in Douglas, Cork city.

A quantity of cash was reported as stolen but no injuries have been reported.

A man in his 40s was arrested yesterday and has since been charged.

He is due to appear before Cork City District Court later today.

In a statement to The Journal, a Bank of Ireland spokesperson said: “There was a security incident at our Douglas branch yesterday and we are assisting An Garda Síochána with their investigation.”
