Man (60s) dies following two-vehicle collision in Co Westmeath

The collision happened on Friday, 19 December, on the Royal Canal Way at Cushinstown, Killucan.

A MAN IN his 60s has died following a two-vehicle collision in Co Westmeath.

The incident happened at around 2.15pm on Friday, 19 December, on the Royal Canal Way at Cushinstown, Killucan.

Following the collision one of the drivers involved, a man in his 60s, became unwell and was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

None of the other occupants required treatment.

The scene has been examined and the local Coroner has been notified.

A post-mortem examination will be arranged and a garda spokesperson said the results of the post-mortem will assist Gardaí in determining the course of the investigation.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available.
