Man arrested in connection to a number of cars being set on fire in Dublin

In all, five cars were damaged in the early hours of Thursday morning.

A MAN HAS been arrested by gardaí investigating a number of cars being set on fire in the Dublin 8 area.

The incidents of criminal damage by fire took place during the early hours of Thursday morning, 11 December.

At around 4:45am on Thursday, gardaí responded to reports of three cars on fire outside residences on the South Circular Road.

While attending the scene, gardaí were alerted to another car on fire on St Anne’s Road, around 100 metres away.

Damage was also caused to a fifth car parked adjacent to this vehicle and gardaí requested the services of Dublin Fire Brigade to assist.

No injuries were reported.

Investigating gardaí today arrested a man in his 30s in connection with this incident.

The man is currently detained at a Garda Station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
