Man in critical condition after being hit by a car in Louth early this morning

The man has been brought to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin to be treated for serious injuries.

A MAN IN his 40s is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Louth in the early hours of this morning. 

The man, a pedestrian, was struck by the car shortly after 3am on the N2 near Funshog, Collon, in Co Louth. 

He was treated at the scene before being brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda to be treated for serious injuries. He has since been moved to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. 

The driver of the car, a woman in her 20s, was uninjured. 

Forensic investigators have carried out a technical examination of the scene and the road is expected to reopen shortly.

Gardaí investigating have asked for anyone who has camera footage from the area between 2.40am and 3.20am to contact them, or anyone who may have witnessed the collision. 

Anyone with information is asked to contact Ardee garda station on 041 6853222, Drogheda garda station on 041 9874200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
