One man killed and another in critical condition after separate road crashes in Cork and Mayo

Gardaí are seeking witnesses to both incidents.

A MAN IN his 60s has died in a single-vehicle road traffic collision in the Corran Middle area in Co Cork today.

The incident occurred this morning on the road between Leap and Drinagh.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The road remains closed at this time to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 10.30am and 11.30am this morning, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí,” a spokesperson said.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Clonakilty Garda Station on 023 882 1570, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”

In Co Mayo, a man also in his 60s was seriously injured in a single-vehicle road traffic collision yesterday afternoon.

He was driving a motorcycle when the collision occurred at Creggaunbaun in Louisburgh at approximately 12:30pm.

He was brought to University Hospital Galway by air ambulance and he remains in critical condition. Gardaí are also seeking witnesses to this incident.
