A LIMERICK MAN will appear at the next sitting of Limerick Circuit Court charged in relation to the death of a woman after she had sex with his Alsatian dog.
The 43-year-old woman died from an adverse allergic reaction after the intercourse with the animal, which occurred on October 7 2008. Carol Hickey, a mother of four from Galbally in Limerick, died in hospital after becoming unwell.
RTÉ reports that 57-year-old Sean McDonnell, from Raheen in Limerick has been charged with one count of buggery with an animal. Today in court McDonnell was served with the Book of Evidence. The Limerick Leader reports that he faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment if he is found guilty.
The dog is being kept under quarantine as part of the garda inquiry. McDonnell has been remanded on continuing bail until a court date is set in the autumn.
