Manchester Police: "If you want to commit disorder, we'll lock you up"
Police have tweeted warnings to those intent on causing violence, while there has been a small standoff between officers and a gang in London.

POLICE IN MANCHESTER say they have arrested two men found with a fuel can, balaclava and ball bearings, and have issued the warning “if you want to commit disorder, we’ll lock you up”.

Greater Manchester Police have been assuring people throughout the evening via Twitter that there have been no further incidents of disorder, and that officers are out in force. They’ve also urged people to ignore any rumours they hear and wait for official updates.

Police in the West Midlands said they were monitoring a large group of people on Dudley Road in Birmingham – the scene of last night’s hit and run in which three people were killed – but that the group has now dispersed.

Earlier the first jail sentences were handed down to those involved in the disturbances over the past few days.

BBC reports that police have released CCTV footage of a person they want to speak to in relation to an alleged serious assault in Ealing on Monday night, while it’s also reported that the Magistrates Court in Westminster will go through the night again tonight.

According to The Guardian Police have arrested several people in the Eltham Hill are of London where earlier a group of about 200 had congregated and had begun throwing missiles at police. Some of those involved were supports of the far-right English Defence League.
