Fire breaks out at Meath Civil Defence headquarters

Sources believe that there was a substantial amount of vehicles inside the warehouse at the time.

FIREFIGHTERS IN MEATH are battling a blaze at the headquarters of the Meath Civil Defence.

In a statement, Meath County Council that the fire had broken out at the Meath Civil Defence Headquarters, at Moat View House, Mullaghboy Industrial Estate, Navan, Co. Meath.

“The fire service is currently on site responding to the incident. We can confirm that nobody was injured, and the building was unoccupied at the time of the fire,” the council said.

The fire broke out at a warehouse used by the local Civil Defence. Sources believe that there was a number of the unit’s emergency vehicles inside the warehouse at the time.

Commenting on the incident, Foreign Affairs Minister and Meath East TD Helen McEntee said:

“I’m very sorry to hear of the fire at Meath Civil Defence HQ in Navan but I am relieved that no one was injured.

“I want to sincerely thank Meath County Council Fire and Rescue Service for their swift response and Meath Civil Defence volunteers & staff for their continued dedication.

I have spoken with the team and will work closely with them to ensure services continue over Christmas.

The council said further updates would be provided as more information becomes available.
