TWO PEOPLE REMAIN in custody in connection with the murder of 44-year-old Lithuanian man Audrius Butkus whose body was found on a beach in Meath earlier this week.

A woman in her 30s who was arrested earlier today has been released without charge with a file to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A man in his 50s and a female in her 60s are still being held at Drogheda Garda Station.

The man’s body was found on Mornington Beach, near Drogheda, on Tuesday morning by a walker who immediately informed gardaí. The victim appeared to have sustained serious head injuries.

All three were arrested by Gardaí today in the Drogheda area and can be held for up to 24-hours.

A property in Drogheda was sealed off earlier this week as part of the muder probe with gardaí appealing for anyone who noticed an “altercation, row or unusual incident” in the area to contact them.
