Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash with van in Ballymena

A MOTORCYCLIST INJURED in a crash with a van on Saturday afternoon in Ballymena remains in hospital in serious condition, police said.

The collision occurred between the van and motorbike at around 12.20pm in the northbound carriageway of the Lisnevenagh Road in Ballymena, Co Antrim.

PSNI officers attended alongside colleagues from Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance.

The male motorcyclist was taken to hospital following the collision. The van driver was spoken to at the scene and was not injured.

Officers have appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has dashcam footage which could assist with their enquiries, to contact police in Ballymena.

It is the second serious Irish road crash involving a motorcyclist this weekend.

On Friday, a motorcyclist died at the scene of a single-vehicle crash in Co Wexford. The man was aged in his 20s.
