Dark City: The Cleaner
Fans of the show Dexter will find their next fave in this New Zealand series. Dark City: The Cleaner is based on a 2006 novel by Paul Cleave, and is about a mild-mannered cleaner at a local police station who has a grisly second line of work.
By night, Joe is the serial killer known as the Christchurch Carver. But when a woman is murdered and the Carver is blamed, Joe realises a copycat killer is at work. He sets out to find him… but is he being hunted himself? Watch this nail-biting yet comic series on TG4.ie.
Deep Fake
There are so many questions out there about the impact of AI-generated videos on our lives. This six-episode Canadian series looks at the phenomenon of ‘undetectable deepfakes’, a particularly worrying development in the sphere.
Sophie Nélisse (Yellowjackets) stars as Stephanie, whose life is shattered when a compromising video of her mother goes viral. Stephanie believes the video is fake, even if everyone else doesn’t. A Life’s Worth
For those who prefer a powerful series based on a true story, check out the six-part A Life’s Worth. This impactful show is inspired by the experiences of the first Swedish UN battalion in Bosnia in 1993.
It follows four young soldiers named Forss, Babic, Strand and Kilpinen as they head out on their first overseas mission to the heart of the bloody Balkan conflict. Vanguard
Missing Succession? Try Vanguard, a Swedish series about the unlikely media mogul Jan Stenbeck. This is based on the true story of Stenbeck’s life – he is born into a powerful Swedish family, and after his father and brother dies he takes over the family company. The Hunt
Another series based on a true story is the gripping The Hunt. In 1999, the body of 16-year-old Marianne Vaatstra was discovered near an asylum seekers’ centre in the Netherlands. The shocking crime captivated the country and The Hunt details the long and frustrating investigation into catching the killer.
It also explores the xenophobia, racism, and conspiracy theories that gripped the small Dutch town during the search for justice for Marianne. This series has been called a milestone for Dutch television – watch The Hunt on TG4.ie
30 years of Ros na Rún
Great news for Ros na Rún fans, or those who want to catch up with this long-running Irish series.
TG4 has announced a new digital-first release for fans of Ros na Rún, Ireland’s flagship Irish language drama. Now, each new episode of the milestone 30th season is available to stream on TG4.ie every Monday and Wednesday. This means that you have the chance to watch it one day ahead of the broadcast on the TG4 channel.
