EACH WEEK, WE ask someone based in Ireland with a passion for interiors to share one photo of their favourite spot in their home.
Naomi Young has lived in her house in Co Meath for three years.
“It had previously been an executive rental, so was in great condition but extremely beige,” she says. “I’m slowly making it a reflection of my style.”
This week, Naomi (@pippinpond) chatted us through her favourite spot: her spare bedroom, which is used as a home office and lounge.
I love that it’s bright, with windows on two sides, and overlooks the garden. It’s also quiet and peaceful, which is perfect for a home office/lounging space. And, weirdly, I’m a fan of the windows themselves – sash windows featured high on my wish list.
Probably the chest of drawers, which I actually stole from my mum. I like to have at least one antique or vintage item in every room, if I can. I also always try to incorporate plants as they add so much life.
I’m always looking in magazines, books and on Pinterest and Instagram. I try to save things as I find them and have a board for every possible eventuality. I find that more effective than searching for specific items or rooms.
I also tend to buy things I adore, often with no idea where they’ll end up. I bought the love seat thinking that I’d recover it and not knowing where it would ultimately land. I then decided I like the pop of colour against the dark background.
This corner didn’t need a lot of tidying or styling, but some of the other corners are currently quite messy. The room is now home to all the piles of charity donations I had planned to make pre-lockdown, so it’s being used a lot more.
As I like all of the elements I have so far, it’s more a case of still needing to add layers. In particular, I haven’t resolved the window treatments and I’m slowly collecting art as I find things I love.
