AFTER A HUGELY successful run this year, the 84th National Ploughing Championships will return to Ratheniska, County Laois next year.
It was announced today that next year’s festival will take place from 22-24 September 2015.
This year was the most successful year in championships history with 279,500 people attending. That’s 51,500 more people than in 2013.
Making a return
Speaking after the announcement the NPA Managing Director Anna May McHugh said they were delighted to be making a return to County Laois next year, adding that feedback from landowners, the local community and the wider public has been very positive and that everyone is incredibly enthusiastic to see a return.
Speaking also with many of the exhibitors and visitors over the 3 days throughout the event, all were very vocal about their wishes to have it staged again in Ratheniska given how well it worked as a location this year. The site has proved popular for several reasons including its central location and surrounding road and rail network.
She said that most people travelled by car this year, and that there were minimum of traffic delays, which certainly helps with its attractiveness, she said.
