Oasis-goers caution tonight's ticketholders after reports of problems in stadium

The Gallagher brothers are playing a second sold-out show in Croke Park tonight.

LAST UPDATE | 17 Aug 2025

TENS OF THOUSANDS of Oasis fans descended on Croke Park yesterday for the brothers’ first Irish show since 2009, but it didn’t quite go off without a hitch.

Some of last night’s attendees have reported problems they encountered in the stadium, especially for those with standing tickets on the pitch.

A number of standing section ticketholders have said they were initially let in to Croke Park but weren’t given a wristband, a method commonly used by stadiums to identify who is entitled to access into standing areas.

They were then later stopped from entering the standing area because of not having a wristband, causing delays for fans trying to get onto the pitch and secure a spot to watch the concert.

Video footage from last night’s gig shows a large number of fans still streaming onto the pitch after the Gallagher brothers had already started performing.

Additionally, hundreds of fans with seated tickets who left their seats to go to the bathroom before the concert started were ushered by stewards into a one-way queue that led towards the standing pitch and weren’t being allowed to leave the queue to make their way back to the route towards the seated sections.

One fan told The Journal that they “only got out” of the queue because they told a steward that “didn’t have a ticket” on them as their wife had the tickets and they didn’t know where their seat was.

They said that other people were being made to go down the route towards the standing pitch despite telling stewards that they didn’t have a standing ticket, causing delays for fans trying to get back to their seats.

“It caused major confusion and delayed people trying to get back to their seats, wherever they were in the venue,” the fan said.

The Journal has contacted event management MCD for comment.

At the other end of the concert, planned pyrotechnics for the finale didn’t happen last night “due to a technical issue”.

Liam and Noel are playing a second sold-out show in Croke Park tonight for more excited fans.

Gates are scheduled to open at 5pm, with opening acts due to perform at 6pm and 7pm before Oasis come on at around 8.15pm.

The show should end around 10.15pm.

If you’re attending, make sure to check the colour of your entry route to know which direction you should approach the stadium from.
