This special horse is now happy, full of confidence and enjoying life.
Pilgrim came into the shelter in the summer of 2020, after we received a call about a badly injured and abandoned horse. This poor soul was shut down and in horrific pain. It was clear that his face and body had been burnt.
He was in horrendous shock and had suffered major trauma. Pilgrim spent a whole year recovering with us in the shelter, with his carer Claire who carefully nursed his wounds and helped him grow in confidence. Our veterinary team monitored his condition every day keeping a very close eye on him.
Slowly he gradually started to come out of his shell. After a few weeks he was able to go out in the evening when it was cooler and more comfortable for him. He made friends with Spirit the goat and was happy to see Claire coming each day to nurse his burns. This boy has been one in a million, and even though he went through unbearable pain he was always a true gentleman with our veterinary team and his carer Claire.
It is because of our rescue work, our supporters and his courage that Pilgrim has made a remarkable recovery. He is happy now, full of confidence and enjoying life. We are very proud of him. Pilgrim is a very special boy and he will soon be ready to find a very special home.
Pilgrim today, after a full year of daily care from the DSPCA's Claire DSPCA
