Our Deadly Summer is out in May next year. Bloomsbury General

The authors of Oh My God, What A Complete Aisling are releasing a new book

Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen have teamed up again to write Our Deadly Summer.

THE AUTHORS OF the bestselling Oh My God, What A Complete Aisling series are releasing a new novel next year.

Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen have teamed up again to write Our Deadly Summer, a story about friendship, young women and bad men.

Set in Dublin, London and New York, the book follows the story of Trinity Students Laura and Dee, who set off to The Big Apple to have the summer of their lives.

But there’s a twist: the book opens with them standing over a dead body.

Billed as a hilarious and heartfelt reflection of early noughties culture, Our Deadly Summer will be released by Bloomsbury General in May 2026.

McLysaght and Breen, who have been friends for more than 20 years, wrote Oh My God, What a Complete Aisling in 2016. It became a bestseller and four more books followed, winning three Irish Book Awards.

“Our Deadly Summer came about after many late-night conversations about our own experiences as younger women,” the authors said.

“It’s been such a joy to revisit the early noughties with all their ups and downs, and we know so many readers will relate to the journeys of Laura and Deirdre (maybe without the dead body though). We can’t wait to share Our Deadly Summer with the world.”

Bloomsbury General publishing director Darcy Nicholson said working with McLysaght and Breen “has over-delivered on all my hopes and expectations”.

“Our Deadly Summer is a clever, funny, moving new direction for Emer and Sarah and I am honoured Bloomsbury General will be the publishers to cement their successes in Ireland as well as breaking them out in the UK and our other markets in the way they so richly deserve.”
