Woman airlifted to hospital after dog attack in Carlow town

The woman in her 50s sustained serious injuries.

A WOMAN WAS airlifted to hospital after being seriously injured in a dog attack at a home in Carlow town this afternoon. 

The woman, in her 50s, was removed from the scene of the attack by an air ambulance and brought to the Mater Hospital in Dublin for treatment. 

Gardaí believe that the dog involved in the attack was of a restricted breed. 

The dog was euthanised at the scene of the attack by a vet. 

The dog warden, gardaí and emergency services also attended at the scene. 

Investigations are ongoing, and the scene of the attack is currently being preserved for technical examination.
