PANDA WASTE WORKER, Radu Hajdu, came across €2,775 in cash in a skip at the Panda Waste Management centre in Cappagh, Co Dublin yesterday.
Staff at the recycling facility told management about the find and set about tracing the rightful owner.
It turns out the money belonged to a woman whose father had recently passed away and she accidentally dumped the cash while clearing out his house.
The woman, who doesn’t want to be named, said, “When Panda contacted me, I couldn’t believe that they had found the money and had the honesty to call me.
“I am very impressed with the company, fair play to them. I am going to let everyone know about their honesty.”
Panda Waste spokesperson, Brian McCabe, said, “We are delighted we could help get the money back to the rightful owner. Well done to all the staff involved who found it, for letting the management know.”
