Pedestrian in his 90s dies after being struck by car in Co Down last night

He has been named as Patrick (Patsy) Joseph Brady.

A 93-YEAR-OLD man has died after being struck by a car in Co Down last night.

The incident happened shortly after 10.45pm on the Newry Road in Rathfriland, when the 93-year-old was struck by a silver Toyota Avensis.

PSNI officers attended alongside emergency services, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has been named as Patrick (Patsy) Joseph Brady, from the Barnmeen area.

It is understood that the driver of the Toyota has also sustained serious injury.

The Newry Road was closed overnight but has since re-opened.

PSNI enquiries are ongoing and it is appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have footage which could assist with the investigation, to make contact.
