A WOMAN HAS died following a road crash in Phibsborough, Dublin 7, today.
The incident happened on the Phibsborough Road at around 1pm this afternoon. Gardaí said the crash involved a lorry, a car and a pedestrian.
The female pedestrian, whose age has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the lorry and car were uninjured.
The road is currently closed and forensic collision investigators are at the scene, gardaí said.
A Garda spokesman said: “Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time to make this footage available to Gardaí.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Mountjoy Garda Station on 01 6668600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”

That more people haven’t been killed on the stretch of road between Broadstone Garage and Glasnevin cemetery is a mystery. Many residents have been in contact with their local councillors and TDs but to no avail. RIP to the poor lady.
My 2 kids passed by on a bus moments after it happened. Very sad to see. Some decent people came over and placed a jacket over her head out of respect.
RIP. The junction where this happened is a nightmare, two sets of pedestrian crossing within feet of each other to cross a narrow stretch of road.
@Patrick Leonard: That crossing is daft. Anyone who is legally blind and relies on their hearing (the NCBI is around the corner) could be forgiven for getting confused with the pedestrian lights when they go green on one side of the island. I’ve thrown my hand out in front of people on more than one occasion to stop them from crossing. It’s confusing if you are not familiar with them. And there’s constant running of the lights by motorists too from 2 sides, trying to get past the lights and through the yellow box. That poor,unfortunate Woman. I am so sorry for her friends & family.
