Police confirm man found dead in search for suspect of Bangor stabbing was the attacker

Two people were hospitalised after the incident at a home in the Chippendale Avenue area on Christmas Eve.

POLICE HAVE CONFIRMED THAT a man found dead during their search for the prime suspect of the Bangor stabbing was the attacker.

Two people were hospitalised after the incident at a home in the Chippendale Avenue area of the town on Christmas Eve.

At around 3.30pm on 24 December, officers responded to a report that a man armed with a hammer and a knife had entered a home and assaulted a woman aged in her 50s and a man aged in his 20s.

The two victims were taken to hospital for treatment of there serious injuries and have been discharged since.

The PSNI released a photo of who they believed the attacker, who fled the scene, to be.

They have today confirmed that the suspect was 54-year-old Jonathan Baker. His body was found on Saturday, 27 December.

Detectives are not seeking anyone else in connection with their ongoing investigation into the attempted murder.

However, anyone with any other information should contact police officers on 101. The reference number to quote is 914 of 24/12/25.
