There are reports that that’s how former One Direction star Zayn Malik dumped his fiancée, Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards.
And according to a study by US company Vouchercloud, 56% of those who went through a break up in 2013, ended their relationship digitally – whether over text message, social media or email.
One woman who had it done to her, said that while at first she viewed it as “the coward’s way out”, she now sees why people do it.
So today we’re asking, Is it ever okay to break up with someone by text?

I think if you’ve only been seeing someone a few weeks then it’s fine. Preferable even.
I know I’d rather have a text than an uncomfortable phone call. If I haven’t been seeing the person that long.
But if you’re engaged to someone …? That’s just despicable.
It really is.
I don’t know how you can go from ‘I intend to marry you’ to ‘you aren’t even worth a phone call’ – no matter WHAT has transpired.

Sometimes its easier to write how yoy feel that speak it. You can put time and thought into the written word. That said I’m not a big fan of dumping or being dumped by text but its far better than just being ignored. That’s the worst when you find your calls and texts go unanswered and you’re left feeling what did I do :-(
I think the best thing for all concerned is to act distant for a few weeks, start a few arguments and then eventually get around to breaking up. Either that or have an affair and post photos to facebook.

If you had the courage to talk to him/her and ask her out you should have the courage and class to break up in person, this is not an e-chat relationship. I put it in the same spectrum as getting fired by text.
Depends on the situation. If someone cheated for example, I don’t think anyone would blame the other person if they text them to tell them it was over
I think I can safely say most have us have either went out with or dated a nutter, sometimes txt or phonecall is the safest way. As someone said above though, if you’re seeing someone for a long time at least have the decency to tell them to their face.
Well he was engaged, I think he took the cowards way out, even if she did something wrong, he could at least go face to face and do it.
Face to face, the person at least deserves that.

Just goes to show what a little runt Zayn is to dump his fiancee by text. These 1D guys have potential to be good role models for their adoring young fans, but instead they act like idiots.
I reckon only spineless shameful people would breakup via text. if you date someone and the relationship ends the decent thing is to tell them face to face regardless of the hurt.
