Man faces court after post office is robbed with a shotgun

Two other men remain in custody.

A 24-YEAR-OLD man will face court next Tuesday after being arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a post office in Louth.

The man was arrested after he and two other men entered Clogherhead Post Office yesterday armed with a sawn-off shotgun.

As they left with a sum of cash, the were confronted by gardaí. A 25-year-old was arrested at the scene and the 24-year-old and a 36-year-old were arrested nearby.

The charged man appeared before Drogheda District Court this morning and was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Clover Hill District Court next Tuesday.

The two other men remain in Garda custody, detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 as amended, at Drogheda and Dundalk Garda Stations.

Gardaí are seeking witnesses to the incident, particularly anyone who was in the supermarket/post office between 11am and 12 mid-day. Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room at Drogheda Garda Station on 041 987 4200.
