Price Comparison: What can I buy for under €550,000 in Kilkenny?

Four detached homes with at least four bedrooms.

THIS WEEK WE’RE heading to the Marble County to see what you could get for under €550k in the current climate.

It can be hard to find the time to trawl through listings, so let us do some of the work for you. If you’re looking to buy in Co Kilkenny, one of these houses may just be the home you’ve been waiting for.

Four-bed, detached, Castlecomer Road – €415,000

1 Auburn Drive sits in a cul-de-sac off Castlecomer Road, so it’s just a walk to Kilkenny city. Perfect for a family with children of all ages, it’s located near Kilkenny College and plenty of primary and secondary schools. The Ring Road and M9 motorway are also just a short drive away. 

Inside, this 146 m² house comprises a hallway that connects to a sitting room and the open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room to the back along with a sunroom that leads to the back garden. Upstairs, there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. With an energy rating of B3, little in the way of upgrades needs to be done.

If scenic views and rural life appeals, then check out this property in the Suir Valley. Located in the townland of Glenbower, this four-bed is close to the Knocktopher/Piltown Road, so a quick trip in the car will bring you to a supermarket, chemist, post office and doctor, as well as schools in nearby Piltown, Owning and Templeorum. The larger towns of Clonmel, Kilkenny and Waterford are half an hour away.

Approached via electric gates and up a tarmac driveway, this four-bed spans a roomy 325 m² and is set over three floors.  Near Dungarvan Village, which is about a 20-minute drive from Kilkenny city, this is a well-connected home that still lets you live a quiet countryside life.

The area of Jenkinstown is a ten-minute drive from Kilkenny city and is home to this five-bed house on about 0.7 of an acre. Spanning 246 m², space isn’t an issue with this one.

In the hall, you’ll find solid maple floors and wood panelled walls and be lead to the living room with its big windows on one end and glass doors that open to the kitchen on the other.
