Over 90% of British people have a negative opinion of ex-prince

Prince Andrew has been embroiled in controversy over the past few years due to his friendship with the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

91% OF BRITISH people have a negative opinion of their soon-to-be-former prince Andrew – the highest ever recorded – according to a new poll published by UK research company YouGov.

That figure is up 4% since August, when Andrew had a favourability score of 87% (also the most ever recorded at that time).

This may come as no surprise given that the 65-year-old has been embroiled in controversy over the past few years due to his friendship with the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

King Charles is now initiating a formal process to remove his titles and honours. He must also surrender his lease at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

Andrew will move to an undisclosed private residence on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, and will become known as just Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

Favourability of other royals

Those polled by YouGov shared their opinions on other members of the royal family, with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ranking second- and third-worst in terms of favourability (on 66% and 58% respectively).

There were marmite views on the UK’s Queen Camilla with 41% of people polled having a negative opinion of her and 45% saying they had a positive opinion of her.

Prince William ranked the highest in terms of favourability, with 76% of people stating they had a positive view of the future King of England.

He was followed closely by his wife Catherine, Princess of Wales, on 73%.

70% of people had a positive opinion of Princess Anne, while 62% think positively of King Charles.

Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, were both viewed positively by 52% of people polled, while Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were seen in a positive light by 37% and 36% respectively.

When asked whether they still supported the monarchy, 62% of people stated that they do, while 25% of people believe they should have an elected head of state instead.

When asked about the opinions on the monarchy, 57% of people polled believed the institution is good for Britain, while 36% believed it is not.

Meanwhile, 50% of the public believe the monarchy is good value for money compared to 33% who do not.
