THIS WEEK THE postmen and women of Ireland have been lauded for their ability to deliver a letter, no matter how vague the address written on it. There was also some difficulty for Nama, which has faced further questioning from independent TD Mick Wallace.

The Big Movers

It’s called what? 

This week Cork City Council announced that it will be running a competition entitled ‘Pimp My Street’.

It will see different streets in the city pitch their ideas for improvements, with the winner being awarded €25,000.

The name of the competition, a play on the MTV programme ‘Pimp My Ride’, has been drawing some controversy. However speaking to TheJournal.ie Cork City councillor Laura McGonigle said that the name would “draw awareness” to the competition.

This week RTÉ reporter Sinead Hussey tweeted a picture proving that An Post employees are capable of delivering almost anything.

A letter sent to her father with only his name, the county, and the fact that he has a singing voice not dissimilar to Neil Diamond written on it was successfully delivered.

This followed a story last week about a letter addressed to ‘Your man Henderson, the boy with the glasses’ being correctly delivered in Donegal.

• Irish Water has denied making cold calls to people who have not paid their water bills. 
• Six young homeless people have moved into a formerly dilapidated flat that has recently been rejuvenated.
