EACH WEEK, WE ask someone based in Ireland with a passion for interiors to share one photo of their favourite spot in their home.
Rachel lives in a 1960s semi-detached home in south Dublin with her husband and three children.
“The property was in need of a lot of updating when we bought it,” says Rachel.
“Over the last two years I’ve really tried to put more personality into the house, which is a such a slow process when you’re trying to do it on a small budget.”
Saying that, I’ve really enjoyed the challenge of up-cycling and revamping pieces to make it look stylish and individual.
This week, Rachel (@raysmoneypit) chatted us through her favourite spot: her daughter’s newly decorated bedroom.
I adore the way the light beams in through the large window and bounces off the mirrored wardrobe and fills the room with light.
It has to be the bed, it’s such a statement piece. It’s pink, it’s bold, it’s luxurious – I just love it.
A few years ago we were very lucky to go on a family trip to Bali. We had such an incredible time visiting the temples, the monkey forests, animal sanctuaries and rice fields. We travelled around the island soaking in all of the beauty it had to offer. We had incredible pictures to look back on, so when we doing up my daughter’s mood board for her room, it was clear that a jungle theme was a winner.
With the help of some Instagram pals and searches online, we found a jungle mural. We wanted this room to be a grown-up space with a whimsical take on the monkey forest we has visited and I think we achieved that.
Because this is a newly completed room – my daughter says it’s her dream bedroom - she is so proud of it and keeps it clean, so it looks like this most of the time.
You can’t see from this angle of the picture, but the back wall is crying out for the right type of chest of drawers. I keep searching for some but I haven’t found what I have in my head, so I’ve decided that I may need to revamp a chest of drawers to suit the look we’re going for.
