Man in his 70s dies after single vehicle crash in north Cork

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who were in the area at the time and who may have camera footage to come forward.

A MAN IN his 70s died in a road incident in Ballinrush, Kilworth, Co. Cork yesterday morning. 

Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after 11.15 am on the R639, where the male driver was pronounced dead.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the single vehicle incident to come forward, including those who may have camera footage.

The coroner has been notified and a post-mortem investigation is due to take place in Cork University Hospital (CUH). 

A technical examination of the scene has taken place. 

A garda spokesperson said: 

“Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling on the R639 near Ballinrush, Kilworth, Co. Cork between 10:50am and 11:20am on Monday 23rd March 2026 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Fermoy Garda Station on 025 82100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
