More than 60 scramblers, e-scooters, and e-bikes seized across west Dublin

In a separate seizure, gardaí discovered cannabis with an estimated street value of €500,000 when searching a van in Swords.

MORE THAN 60 scrambler motorbikes, e-scooters, e-bikes, and quad bikes were seized by gardaí on Friday.

The vehicles were seized across west Dublin, with gardaí carrying out the seizures as part of Operation Meacán in Finglas, Cabra, and Blanchardstown. Of those seized, there were 29 scramblers, 21 e-scooters, three e-bikes, three quad bikes, and one “mini motorcycle”.

Eighteen homes were also searched as part of the operation. The searches were targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs and related criminal activity, gardaí said.

A total of €20,720 of drugs were seized; this was predominantly cannabis, but also included €3,500 worth of crack cocaine and €1,000 worth of alprazolam tablets, a benzodiazepine commonly referred to as brand name Xanax.

Cash and a number of weapons were also recovered.

A man aged in his 20s who was arrested in connection with the seizures has been charged. He is due to appear before the courts at a later date.

In a separate seizure, gardaí on Saturday intercepted a van in the Swords area of north Dublin. Upon searching the van, gardaí discovered cannabis with an estimated street value of €500,000.

The driver of the van, a man in his 20s, was arrested at the scene. He remains detained at a garda station in Dublin.
