Second car stolen after man pulled over by fake 'garda' car

This is the second incident of its kind in Meath this month.

TWO MEN POSING as detectives stole a car from a 20-year-old driver after they asked him to step out of the vehicle.

The men were driving a a silver Vauxhall Vectra with a flashing blue light when they pulled over the blue coloured Nissan Quasqai.

It happened at 5am on Saturday morning on the M2 near Ashbourne.

It comes after a man was assaulted in Trim last month when he was pulled over by a car with a flashing blue light. His van was stolen but recovered hours later.

The 20-year-old motorist was uninjured during the incident in Saturday.

Investigating gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them. They are particularly appealing to the public to report any sightings of a blue Nissan Quasquai registration number 10MH262, taken during the incident and the silver Vauxhall Vectra used by the two suspects.
