The incident happened at around 1.45am this morning.

LAST UPDATE | 30 Oct

A MAN DIED in the early hours of this morning after being hit by a truck in Dublin City Centre.

Gardaí said the “fatal road traffic collision” happened on Dame Street at around 1.45am.

The man, a pedestrian in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to Dublin City Mortuary where a post-mortem exam will take place. The coroner has been notified.

A section of the street from City Hall at the junction with Parliament Street to the junction with George’s Street was closed for forensic examinations until late morning.

The road has since reopened.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses and confirmed there were no other injuries reported. They have also asked members of the public who may have taken images or recorded footage of the incident to not share it on social media platforms or messaging apps, but instead to provide it to investigating Gardaí.

“Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were in the area between 1.30am and 2am are asked to make this this footage available to Gardaí,” a statement said.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Pearse Street Garda Station on (01) 6669000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
