LOCATED BY THE coast in Tralee, Co Kerry, Sorrento Lodge is an idyllic waterside retreat.
On the market for €745,000 through Tommy Carmody’s Property House and Moovingo, the four-bed cottage offers charm and sea views, all on an attractive 0.75 acre site.
The original house dates back to the 1800s, and was completely refurbished in 2016 to create a light-filled and inviting interior. The property’s origins were kept front of mind during the renovations, with features including brickwork, picture windows and 18ft high ceilings carefully maintained.
As well as the picturesque sea views from the gardens, there’s another advantage for those who love the water: the sandy shores of Fenit Beach are just a five-minute drive away. The house is also within easy access of the Tralee-Fenit greenway, which is due to be completed this summer.
Stepping inside, the accommodation is thoughtfully decorated to create a bright and airy feel. The heart of the home is the open-plan kitchen, living and dining area, where shutter windows look over the front garden and out to sea.
The kitchen features white cabinets and countertops, allowing for plenty of storage and preparation space, while there’s also a four-seater island. Beside the island, the dining area could comfortably fit a table for six.
Completing this room is the living area, featuring a redbrick surround stove, and double doors which open to the patio. The fourth bedroom at Sorrento Lodge is currently in use as a family room and, again, looks out to the front garden and the sea beyond. There’s a built-in feature fireplace here to create a cosy feel, while French doors extend the living space and lead to the beautiful rear garden.
The three remaining bedrooms are doubles, with neutral, country-style decor in each. The master bedroom is particularly impressive, with built-in wardrobes, feature wallpaper and access to the garden. In the main family bathroom, the claw-foot bath is sure to impress.
Completing the accommodation is the spacious outhouse, which currently acts as a utility room but would easily work as a home office. There’s also the ruins of an old building in the rear garden, making for an ideal renovation project.
With lawn and patio areas in the front and rear gardens, the new owners of Sorrento Lodge will be able to make the most of the sea views at any time of day. Both gardens feature stone wall and mature greenery, making for private and peaceful spaces to sit outdoors.
The cottage is in a stellar location to enjoy both urban and countryside life, with Tralee town just a 10-minute drive away. With beaches, shops, schools and scenic walks on your doorstep, Sorrento Lodge offers a wonderful way of life for its new owner.
