THE BROADCASTING AUTHORITY of Ireland (BAI) has announced the signing of a 5-year institutional sound broadcasting contract with SOS Kilkenny Limited, which will provide radio content for service users with intellectual disabilities.
SOS Kilkenny Ltd provides lifetime services to adults with intellectual disabilities at its campus on Callan Road, Kilkenny.
The new radio station – Dreamtime Radio – will broadcast Monday to Friday for six hours each day, and provide a range of music, entertainment and news content for people using services on the charity’s campus.
Service users will also be invited to develop their own skills by participating in the running of the station.
Speaking today, Michael O’Keeffe, Chief Executive of the BAI said: “I am sure that the operation of this radio station will be engaging and rewarding for all involved”.
SOS Kilkenny has already operated a 30 day temporary radio service licensed by the BAI in 2010.
