Cervical screening is not for people who have symptoms of cervical cancer.

Even if you attend HPV cervical screening regularly and you’ve had the HPV vaccine, you should know the symptoms of cervical cancer.

These symptoms can be caused by other conditions. Cervical screening is not a test for cancer. It’s a test that can help prevent cancer from developing. If you have symptoms of cervical cancer please go to your GP without delay.

Look out for bleeding between periods, vaginal spotting or unusual discharge, pain during sex, bleeding after sex or a pain in your pelvis (anywhere between your pelvis and the top of your thigh).
