Teenage girl dies and two other people in hospital after falling ill at Belfast music event

Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding all reports are ongoing, the PSNI said.

A TEENAGE GIRL died suddenly and two other people were hospitalised after falling ill at a music festival in Belfast last night.

Police in Northern Ireland said they are making enquiries into the circumstances of what happened at the Emerge dance festival. 

A PSNI spokesperson said police responded to a report of the sudden death of a girl aged in her late teens on Sunday.

She died in hospital after “becoming unwell” at the event in south Belfast, the PSNI said. 

The other two, a woman in her 30s and a boy in his teens, remain in hospital after falling ill at the same event.

Police said the woman remains in “a serious but stable condition at this time”, while the boy “received treatment and is expected to make a full recovery”.

Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding all reports are ongoing, the PSNI said.
