2. #FUNERAL: The remains of murdered vet Catherine Gowing are being brought back to Ireland from Wales today, ahead of her burial tomorrow. The 37-year-old Offaly vet went missing in Wales last October. A man has since been charged with her murder.

4. #SYRIA: More than 60,000 people have been killed in the conflict that has ravaged Syria for the past 22 months, the United Nations believes following “exhaustive analysis” by data specialists.

5. #ABANDONED: “Don’t abandon the pet puppy you got for Christmas,” the ISPCA is urging. It comes after 500 puppies were dumped last January and February after pet owners decided they didn’t want their new pet after all.
