Critics are raving about this medical drama - and Irish viewers will finally get to watch it in March

The Pitt has been widely acclaimed by critics and viewers since it premiered last year.

THE SECOND SEASON of The Pitt premieres in the US tonight to much anticipation.

The HBO drama, which follows a team of healthcare staff at a hospital in Pittsburgh, came out in January last year. Since then, it has been widely acclaimed by critics and viewers for its realistic portrayal of working in emergency medicine.

It won five awards at the 2025 Emmys and is nominated for two Golden Globes for best drama series and best actor for Noah Wyle, who first donned scrubs in his role as Dr John Carter in ER.

The medical drama currently has an extremely positive score of 98% from 40 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, with one critic hailing it “the finest example of the genre in more than a generation.” It averaged over 10 million global viewers per episode for its first season.

The show’s success has already seen it renewed for a third season, but as of yet, television fans in Ireland have yet to see any of it.

HBO Max / YouTube

The Pitt airs on HBO Max, and while some HBO content like The Last of Us and The White Lotus have been broadcast on Sky Atlantic, the channel has not been available here.

However, this is set to change, with HBO confirming that it will launch here and in the UK in March – though an official launch date has yet to be confirmed.

A spokesperson for HBO told The Journal that both seasons of The Pitt will be available to stream after the channel launches.

“Season 2 will have all the episodes up to what has already been released in the U.S. until the March launch date,” the spokesperson added.
