Appeal for witnesses after man (30s) dies in two-car crash in Tipperary

The incident is the second fatal crash to take place in Tipperary in less than 24 hours.

GARDAÍ HAVE APPEALED for witnesses after a man died in a two-car collision in Tipperary in the early hours of this morning.

The incident occurred at about 1.10am on the Frank Drohan Road (N24), in Clonmel.

A man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem will take place. No other serious injuries were reported.
 
The road is currently closed from the Cahir Road Roundabout to the Heywood Road Junction on the N24.  Local diversions are in place and an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators is due to take place.

Investigating gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. They are appealing to any road users travelling in the area between 12.30am and 1.20am, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) to make it available to them.

The incident is the second fatal crash to take place in Tipperary in less than 24 hours. Two young men died in a four-vehicle crash which happened shortly before 6pm on a local road at Killeen, Ballinunty, yesterday evening.

The deceased, a man in his early 20s and a male in his late teens, were occupants of one of the cars. They were both pronounced dead at the scene. 

A man also died yesterday morning after being struck by a lorry. It brings the total number of people killed on the roads this weekend to four.
