Dublin arcade bar Token to reopen in new location next month

It was announced today that Token will be reopening in a new location with new management, but the same and extra games.

ARCADE BAR TOKEN, which closed in June 2024, is to reopen in a new location next month.

Token was in business in Smithfield on Dublin’s northside for eight years before it announced it would be ceasing operations. A popular spot, it said at the time that despite remaining “fully booked”, it could not justify raising its prices to deal with its overheads.

Token’s draw was its vintage arcade games, which customers could enjoy alongside a pint and food.

The bar’s management said the closure was “sad” but they were walking away with “hundreds of memories” from its years in business.

Today, group Bodytonic Music announced that Token would be reopening in a new location with new management, but the same and extra games.

It will be in Dublin’s International Financial Services Centre (IFSC), an area in central Dublin.

“We’re opening in December, and are looking for crew and customers!” a spokesperson for Bodytonic Music said. An exact date has yet to be confirmed.

Bodytonic Music describes itself as an “amalgamation of music, events, festivals, art spaces, markets, fun [and] games”.

It operates several other popular spots in Dublin, including Phibsborough’s The Back Page, a bar that also offers food and board games, The Bernard Shaw, and WigWam.

American entrepreneur Brandon Felczer, who founded Token, is currently crowdfunding for a permanent queer space in Dublin.
