This American film flew a little under the radar when it landed in cinemas, so now’s a chance to enjoy director Carmen Emmi’s fine debut. It’s about young undercover police officer Lucas (Tom Blyth), who’s tasked with targeting men who are cruising in a mall and arresting them for indecent exposure. But one day he catches the eye of Andrew (Russell Tovey), which cracks open Lucas’s own sexuality.

Young Sherlock

Guy Ritchie directs this new series, which is pitched as ”an irreverent, action-packed mystery that charts the legendary origin story of the world’s greatest detective”. Hero Fiennes Tiffin plays the young Sherlock Holmes, who in this reimagining meets James Moriarty (Irish actor Dónal Finn) and finds himself dragged into a murder investigation that threatens his liberty.

These Sacred Vows

It’s the finale of John Butler’s series These Sacred Vows. A week of drama comes to a head as the day of the wedding arrives. But how did Father Vincent (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor) die? That’s the question on viewers’ lips, and we’ll find out the answer on Sunday.

Will be aired on Sunday at 9.30pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.

If you’re looking for a new steamy series, try this adaptation of the book by Julia May Jonas. It stars Rachel Weisz as ‘the protagonist’, a passionate but reckless professor who becomes fixated on her new younger colleague, Vladimir (Leo Woodall) just as her own husband is facing a scandal of his own.

The Manchurian Candidate (1962)

Here’s your classic film watch of the weekend: The Manchurian Candidate, directed by John Frankenheimer in 1962. This stars Frank Sinatra as Major Ben Marco, a Korean War veteran who unravels a plot to brainwash his old platoon. Considered one of the all-time greats. Plus, Murder, She Wrote fans take note: it stars Angela Lansbury too.
